Custom Workflow platforms — Single source of truth for how you actually run.

Custom ERP development, custom CRM, and business process automation built around your operation — not the average customer's. Novura Studios replaces fragmented spreadsheets and SaaS sprawl with one internal platform that owns your back office, your sales pipeline, and the workflows between them. Multi-tenant, audit-logged, AI-augmented where it pays off.

  • What we build: custom ERP, custom CRM, durable workflow platforms, line-of-business automation.
  • Default stack: Postgres (with row-level security), Next.js, Temporal for workflows, REST + Webhooks for integration.
  • Identity & access: SSO via SAML or OIDC, role-based access control, full audit log from day one.
  • AI-augmented: LLMs as workflow operators inside the platform — classifying, drafting, routing.
  • Replacement, not bolt-on: we plan migration off the SaaS tools you're sunsetting, not a forever-dual-running state.
The Convergence

Why “ERP” and “CRM” are becoming the same conversation.

One data model, one platform, one source of truth — replacing the sync that breaks at 2 AM.

For decades ERP and CRM were two product categories with two implementation teams, two budgets, and a sync that broke under load. In 2026 that distinction makes less sense than it used to. A customer in your CRM is the same entity in your ERP — same identifier, same compliance constraints, same address that has to ship a product. The data model is one model. The platform should be one platform.

We build custom platforms that merge ERP and CRM surfaces where they overlap, integrate cleanly with the tools you can't replace yet (accounting, payments, shipping), and automate the workflows between them with durable execution. The output is one source of truth — and a CFO-defensible cost line replacing the per-seat licensing spread across two or three SaaS platforms.

What We Build

Four platforms. One operating system for your business.

Modular by design, integrated by default, replaceable when the math changes.

ERP

Custom ERP modules.

Order management, inventory, AR/AP, supply chain, manufacturing resource planning. Modular by design — we sequence them by which one pays back fastest, with cutover plans per module, not a multi-year big-bang replacement.

CRM

Custom CRM platforms.

Lead capture, account hierarchy, deal pipeline, sales operations, customer success. Shaped to your sales motion (PLG, sales-led, channel) rather than forced into someone else's template.

Workflows

Workflow automation platforms.

Durable workflows on Temporal for processes that span hours, days, or weeks — approvals, intake, escalations, scheduled tasks. Explicit state, audit log, retries that don't lose work.

AI Ops

AI-augmented business operations.

LLMs as operators inside the platform: classifying tickets, drafting communications, routing exceptions, summarizing pipelines. Production-grade AI with the same evals and guardrails we use in dedicated AI engagements — not a bolt-on chatbot.

Our Stack

Built on platforms that survive scale.

Production-proven defaults — replaced only when your constraints demand it.

Database
Postgres with row-level security for multi-tenant isolation. Drizzle ORM. Audit-log triggers.
App layer
Next.js, TypeScript, tRPC, Zod schemas everywhere.
Workflows
Temporal for durable, restart-safe processes.
Identity
Auth.js, Clerk, or WorkOS for SSO (SAML, OIDC) and directory sync (SCIM).
Integrations
REST + Webhooks for outbound; Webhooks + queue for inbound; event-driven where reliability matters.
Reporting
Metabase, Looker Studio, or custom dashboards on the same Postgres. Optional dbt for transforms.
How We Work

Module-by-module, never a big bang.

Sequenced delivery — highest-leverage workflow first, cutover per module.

  1. Weeks 1–2

    Process mapping.

We map your operation as it really runs (not as it's documented), the SaaS sprawl, the integration surface, and the data model that has to survive. Output is a sequenced delivery plan.

  2. Weeks 2–6

    Foundation + first workflow.

Data model, auth, the highest-leverage workflow first — usually the one your team complains about most. Demoable end of every week.

  3. Weeks 6–14

    Module-by-module cutover.

Each remaining module, plus integrations to systems you're keeping. Production cutover per module, never a big bang.

  4. Ongoing

    Iteration and scale.

Same senior team, growing with your operation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What teams ask before scoping an ERP, CRM, or workflow build.

Should I customize Salesforce or HubSpot, or build a custom CRM?
Customize the SaaS when your workflow fits the platform's shape and you mostly need configuration. Build custom when you've hit the customization ceiling, you're paying for capacity you don't use, or your sales / operations workflow is genuinely shaped — multi-tenant clients, unusual deal stages, integrations the SaaS can't extend. The 2026 economic break-even has moved closer to build than it was three years ago.
How much does custom ERP development cost?
Engagements are custom-quoted because ERP scope ranges from a small module to a multi-year platform replacement. A scoped engagement covering one ERP domain (inventory, AR/AP, or order management) typically lands in 12–20 weeks. Full multi-module ERP replacements are sequenced over multiple engagements with cutover plans per module.
When does it make sense to build a custom workflow platform?
When your operation runs on a workflow you've stitched together from four tools and one person's tribal knowledge. When new hires take two weeks to learn the flow. When auditing what happened requires reconstructing from chat logs. A custom workflow platform with explicit states, an audit log, and role-based access pays back fast — both in productivity and in compliance posture.
Can I replace Salesforce with custom software?
Yes, and it's increasingly common. The Retool 2026 Build vs. Buy Report shows 35% of enterprises have already replaced a SaaS purchase with custom. Salesforce specifically is replaceable when your sales process is shaped enough that you're using less than half the platform's surface and paying for the rest. The cost math usually works inside three years; the workflow-fit benefit shows up in week one.
What's the difference between ERP and CRM?
ERP (enterprise resource planning) is the back-office spine — inventory, finance, supply chain, HR. CRM (customer relationship management) is the front-office: leads, deals, accounts, support. Custom builds increasingly merge them when the data model overlaps (a customer in CRM is also an entity in ERP for billing and fulfillment). One platform, one source of truth, beats two systems and a sync that breaks at 2 AM.
Will custom ERP integrate with my existing tools?
Yes — integration is most of the work in any ERP engagement. We default to REST and Webhooks for outbound, SCIM and SAML/OIDC for identity, and event-driven patterns (Postgres triggers, Temporal, or Kafka) for anything that has to be reliable. Existing tools you can't replace yet (accounting, payments, shipping carriers) stay in their lane with a clean integration surface.
How do I migrate from spreadsheets to a custom platform?
Gradually, with the spreadsheet as the validation source. Phase one: import the spreadsheet schema into Postgres, replicate the views your team uses today, and let people read from both side-by-side. Phase two: switch writes to the new platform with a daily reconciliation. Phase three: retire the spreadsheet. The migration period is typically 4–6 weeks; the comfort period before retirement is usually longer.
What's business process automation?
BPA is software that runs your operational processes end-to-end: intake, routing, approvals, escalations, hand-offs, completion. In custom platforms we build it with durable workflows (Temporal) so multi-day processes survive restarts, with an audit log so you can answer 'what happened with order #4291,' and with role-based access so the right person sees the right step. The output is operational predictability — and a dataset of process timing you can actually improve against.
